Chardonnay Results

11 teams battled at Chardonnay Golf Club for the opportunity to represent OCGC at the NCGA Associate Club Championship. The tournament was a tale of 2 courses: the more difficult Meadows course played much easier under overcast skies but with fairly benign conditions. As the clouds disappeared and the sun came out, the winds picked up making the conditions much more difficult. The easier Vineyards course played much tougher with 2-club winds seemingly on every hole.

In the end, the team of Mike Chee, Clem Leung, David Yip and Joe Young repeated as defending champs by edging out a 1-stroke victory over the team of Nicholas Chin, Kenny Fong, Tom Soohoo and Alan Whiteside. Under the best 2 balls format, the “dream team” shot a blistering 14 under par (net 58) on the front 9 and hung on to win with a 3 under par (net 69) on the back 9. Congratulations to Mike, Clem, David and Joe, and may they represent us well at the NCGA qualifier. The results as follows:

Chardonnay Starting Tee Times

Please pick up official scorecards at the first tee. They are located inside the plastic Ziploc bag along with the Skins envelope. Also, check the scorecard for local rules on boundary fences, tilled areas around vineyards, flower beds, etc. Please note that all vineyards are to be played as lateral hazards except the boundary fences on Meadows 2 and 4, and Vineyards 9 which are Out of Bounds.

Also, please circle the 2 scores to be counted for each hole and add the 2 scores, net of the handicap. Please put the net total of the 2 scores for each hole at the bottom of the scorecard. This will make it easier for us to doublecheck the scores.

We will be playing SUMMER RULES – play the ball down as it lies.

Tees: Men – White (6008 yds); Women – Red (5147 yds)

Format: Best Two Balls of Four (Four Person Team with Best 2 Balls)Everyone on the team plays their own ball until completing the hole, then the lowest 2 net scores are recorded as the team scores for that hole.
Rules: We will be instituting the NCGA rules for this format as follows - Play will be 90% (men) and 95% (women) of the course handicap using a MAXIMUM index of 18.4 for calculation. All players with indexes of 18.5 and above are eligible but must play to a maximum index of 18.4.

Prizes: 1st, 2nd, 3rd low net teams. Lowest scoring team qualifies for the NCGA Associate Club Championship. Tiebreakers used for ties in low net scores.

We will have a raffle drawing at the end of the tournament. Each player will receive one raffle ticket for playing at Chardonnay. 3 tickets will be drawn for cash prizes of $80, $40 and $20.

Closest to the pin prizes on all par 3s.

To speed up play, please pick up if you feel that your score will not be used for that hole. For example, if 2 players on your team are on the green in 2 and you are already lying 6, then please pick up to speed up play.

Play READY GOLF and KEEP UP WITH THE GROUP IN FRONT OF YOU.
