Hugh Lee Tournament of Champions Results

On a pleasant October Sunday full of warm sunshine, a huge turnout of 60 players ventured out to Blue Rock East for the inaugural Hugh Lee Tournament of Champions. Hugh and Shirley Lee welcomed everyone with smiles and bags of goodies filled with char siu bao and snacks. Golf was almost secondary as the players came out to thank Hugh for his countless contributions to OCGC over the past 40 years.

When all was said and done, Ray Jeung won the inaugural Hugh Lee TOC trophy by shooting the low net of the tournament with a stellar net 62, beating Caxton Rhodes by 2 strokes. Caxton placed first in the B flight as consolation, while Terry Owyang captured the A flight and Jeanne Yip prevailed in the Ladies’ flight. Ray will have his name engraved on the permanent trophy that was donated by Hugh and will keep the trophy for the next year, as well as a separate trophy for his very own.

As a small token of appreciation for Hugh’s outstanding dedication and service, the club presented to Hugh certificates for 2 free rounds of golf at Roddy Ranch. Many thanks to Hugh for all his guidance and contributions for the past 4 decades. In the same spirit of volunteering, special thanks to Chris Pangilinan who donated his time in creating the scoring spreadsheet every tournament which made my job so much easier and everyone’s wait for the results that much shorter on Sundays.
